How Jocelyn Letzer went from marketing to machining – and never looked back.

In 2019, Jocelyn Letzer was just beginning her career in marketing when she had an epiphany.

“I went to college to get a marketing degree and after three years of study I went to work in the marketing field. However, after a few years of sitting at a desk and staring at a computer screen all day I realized that marketing wasn’t for me.”

A layoff, caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, ultimately forced Jocelyn to look for other options and she turned to Clackamas Community College (CCC). “I saw an ad for a Machine Operator program on their website. I’ve always loved working on my car and fixing things at home, so I thought this really sounded interesting – working with my hands, making things, and not sitting at a desk! Two weeks later I was back in school.”

One key objective of the CCC Machine Operator program is job placement. After interviewing at various shops, Jocelyn chose Enoch Precision Machining because she would have an opportunity to participate in our FastTrack Training program and quickly start running machines. (FastTrack helps beginning machinists to rapidly learn, advance and succeed in their careers.)

Ten months later, Jocelyn is setting-up and machining parts on two different types of machines. It just goes to prove that by following her passion she found a career that she loves – and it’s not sitting at a desk. Way to rock it, Jocelyn!!
